More about ‘A Heart Effort’
Above you can see two game boards for a Heart effort. On the left a board for a racing game, on the right for a jigsaw puzzle game.
In a Heart effort, you can win game pieces by answering questions correctly or winning discussions. In the racing game you put it on one of the colored boxes. The more game pieces you have, the more likely you are to win. In the variant, the game pieces you can win are jigsaw shapes. With those shapes you try to complete as many puzzles as possible.
For a game in the classroom, I prefer the jigsaw puzzle game. This form is ideally suited for playing in teams. Of course, you want everyone on the team to be able to contribute. This works best if you need different skills to win the game.
We now have:
Knowledge - to answer questions
Eloquence – to win discussions
Spatial awareness – to solve the puzzles
Add to that
Tactics - by betting chips or playing cards
Bluff – even if you don't know an answer you can win
Now you have an interesting quiz in which players can also practice working together.
